One of the vital issues modern education is assessing level students’ knowledge using a point-based grading system. Various approaches to definition this phenomenon have been examined, and based on their analysis, authors come conclusion that use PBGS solves several important problems. First, it helps evaluate more accurately by increasing maximum possible number points. Second, provides possibility individual work activities. Third, encourages students hard master new material throughout semester. The also scrutinized disadvantages assessment These include: risk biased judgment; fostering individualism when everyone interested only in his/her personal growth; dominance written test over oral answer; tasks, which allows one determine initial conceptual subject without revealing problematic, depth knowledge, identifying creative minds who can think outside box. Then, through mental experiment, various pedagogical situations assessed formal system leads results. article proposes specific measures improve system, so as achieve objective competence higher educational institutions: 1) at least 50% total score should be planned for final event; 2) certification include small questions, will allow, hand, save time effort, and, other, depth; 3) dual accounting helpful – points grades subject; 4) necessary provide an option “transfer” from kind another. In closing, conclude has its own advantages disadvantages, adhering above rules, strengthen former weaken latter. However, emphasized complete switch break with traditional methods testing seem inappropriate.
